Коти є невід’ємною частиною міського ландшафту Одеси. Вони вільно пересуваються дворами, тротуарами та парками, з’являються на сходах, лавках і прогрітих сонцем стінах. Деякі мають господарів, інших доглядають спільно - сусіди, власники крамниць і працівники кав’ярень. Їхня присутність водночас буденна й постійна, вплетена в щоденний ритм міста.

Одесити відомі своєю любов’ю до тварин, і ця турбота проявляється в безлічі дрібних жестів - мисках з водою влітку, імпровізованих укриттях узимку, тихих ритуалах годування й захисту. З часом міські коти стали більше, ніж просто мешканцями вулиць: вони перетворилися на неофіційний символ Одеси, що відображає її гумор, стійкість і здатність до співіснування.

Ця прив’язаність увійшла й у візуальну культуру міста. Коти з’являються на муралах і графіті - часто сховані в кутках або спостерігають за містом зі стін і дверних прорізів, ніби стаючи свідками міського життя.

Cats are an inseparable part of Odesa’s urban landscape. They move freely through courtyards, along sidewalks, and across parks, appearing on staircases, benches, and sun-warmed walls. Some belong to households, others are cared for collectively by neighbors, shopkeepers, and café staff. Their presence is casual yet constant, woven into the everyday rhythms of the city.

Odesans are known for their affection toward animals, and this care is visible in countless small gestures—bowls of water left out in summer, improvised shelters in winter, and quiet routines of feeding and protection. Over time, the city’s cats have become more than just inhabitants of the streets; they have turned into an informal symbol of Odesa itself, reflecting its humor, resilience, and capacity for coexistence.

This affection has also entered the city’s visual culture. Cats appear in murals and graffiti, often tucked into corners or observing the city from walls and doorways, as if bearing witness to urban life.
